SMEs have always been innovative: Deskera CEO at India SME 100 Awards

“Indian SMEs have always been innovative. In fact, India has a promising future; therefore, SMEs need to change their perspective, and think they are global not just local,” said Shashank Dixit, CEO, Deskera at the India SME 100 Awards function.

Deskera was the official sponsor of one of the most prestigious award functions for SMEs in the country organized by the India SME Forum (ISF). The event was held in New Delhi on May 6. The India SME 100 awards was organized to felicitate the top 100 SMEs of the country.

Shashank also underlined the need for the adoption of cloud-computing technology and said that it should become an integral part of business operations.

Eminent dignitaries included Chief Guest and Additional Secretary and Development Minister, MSME, S N Tripathi; Union Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Kalraj Mishra; CFO, Deskera Peter Flemming; and ad filmmaker Prahlad Kakar. The event also witnessed substantial attendance from successful entrepreneurs as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from several regions of the country, who had come together to felicitate the winners.

“SMEs are creating the future of the country. Collectively, through SMEs, we will make India a success story,” said Union Minister for the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Kalraj Mishra, one of the dignitaries present at the event.

The event, which aims at nurturing entrepreneurship and supporting innovative and competitive SMEs, received 41,832 nominations.

“Entrepreneurs are disrupters. They are people who have reinvented themselves, are originals and are change makers,” said Prahlad Kakar, Chairman, India SME Forum.

Earlier in the day, there was a program “Business Class 2017, Target 1000 Crore,” comprising panel discussions, seminars with eminent personalities, and chat sessions with industry experts. The four panel discussions had an audience of around 400 entrepreneurs. A Year Book featuring the 100 Winners and their stories was also released on the occasion. The maximum number of entrepreneurs came from Maharashtra (25) and Gujarat (18).
